Travel Documents

Your travel documents may include some travel literature. We recommend reviewing this literature prior to departure in order to better familiarize yourself with your destination.  You will encounter a wealth of advice and essential information to make your vacation as enjoyable as possible.

You should plan your travel budget well in advance to allocate funds for special events, such as theatrical events, fine dinning, shopping, and additional excursions.

We advise you to travel light.  Loosing your wallet full of cash may leave you in an uncomfortable situation. However, a replacement credit card may reach you within 24 hours.  You may take some cash with you, but nowadays you can pay with Visa and MasterCard and withdraw local currency at an ATM just about everywhere and you’ll get a better exchange rate once you’re on location.  Make sure you call your credit card provider and/or bank to inform them of your travel; otherwise you may not be able to use your card at foreign locations.  You may consider adding a travel insurance package to your credit card and use it for all your travel related expenses. It should cover you in case of an unforeseen event.  You should also inquire into foreign transaction fees to see which option is best for you. Travelers Checks make converting into local cash at your destination a little more comfortable. We also suggest varying denominations of travelers checks to facilitate budget management.  It is difficult to exchange foreign currencies once you return to the United States so we recommend change your currency back to USD while still in the city center.  Watch out for airport currency exchange; their rates are disadvantageous – you are better off spending it on duty free shopping!

How to get a US passport?  You should file your completed passport application at a US Post Office authorized to accept passport applications. You will need proof of US Citizenship (certified copy of birth certificate), a signature photo ID, and two identical 2″ x 2″ passport photos.
Passports processing may take up to four weeks in some cases so you better take care of this well in advance.

If you already have a passport, remember to check your passport’s expiry date before your trip.
